About

Thank you for visiting! I’m Elizabeth Drury, and I’m glad you’re here!

Fun. What favorites do we share? Mine are international travel, US road trips, fresh air in the majestic outdoors, singing, hiking, learning languages, and time with my family. I choose coffee over tea, cake over pie, savory over sweet. It’s intermittent fasting, not dieting. For me, it’s a YES for conversations with friends across a table, swimming, the sparkle of summer, the green of spring, movies, planning and creativity, fresh green salads, a perfect petite steak, ice-cream, dates, audiobooks, and trains. These excite my gratitude for the generosity, thoughtfulness and vivid color with which God has designed every detail of life.

Loves. God’s most cherished creation is the human being, and he invites every one into friendship with him through faith in Jesus. I was only a young child, maybe six years old, reflecting alone in my bedroom one evening, when I became aware of that invitation and accepted it, praying simply to the Lord that I wanted to know him and to live in friendship with him. He affirmed that prayer immediately through a certainty that he had awakened my spirit into a whole new kind of life. Ever since and to this day, Jesus is my greatest treasure, and his love is central to who I am. My highest and most cherished goal is to allow him to accomplish every bit of work in me that he desires to do, perfecting my love for him and for others, nurturing in me a right view of myself, and enploying me in wholehearted service according to his very good, pleasing, and perfect purposes. Next to friendship with him, his greatest gift to me has been Scott, my husband since 1992, and our four sons.

Calling. In 2008, the Lord made his desire clear that I should apply my training and experience to helping the church do intercultural ministry better–“better” because many churches and pastors were already trying and needed help getting past blind spots, frustration, and disappointment so that they could flourish in relationships and ministry partnerships across social and cultural lines of difference.

Work. I’m an ordained Wesleyan minister, and my PhD prepared me to facilitate the long-term satisfaction and success of others in intercultural ministry. I have served in four US multiethnic churches, in executive leadership for a missions organization (overseas and in the US home office), in Wesleyan ministerial credentialing and development, and in Christian higher education, I love helping pastors, leaders, and organizations navigate the unfamiliar people, situations, and ideas within the unique cultural contexts around them. What comes naturally to me is leading, creating, including, and encouraging. I also speak, preach, write, and lead workshops.

Let’s connect! Have a question? Wondering if I could offer perspective as you think through a culture, ministry, or life challenge? Want ministry support through my workshops, speaking, or consulting services? Have feedback I should consider?
